About Us – Cherish The Children Foundation

Our Background

Cherish the Children Foundation, a 501(C)(3) has been improving the lives of children for more than 25 years. Working initially under the names of Carbone Family Foundation and Carbone Charities, Inc., the Carbone family began its charitable giving initiatives in 1989. The original beneficiary was Newington Children’s Hospital, predecessor to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

In 2002, the Foundation reorganized under a new volunteer board of directors and changed its name to Cherish the Children Foundation to better reflect our vision of being a resource to families who have nowhere else to turn.

With the support of individuals and businesses, the Foundation assists children in our community who’s needs are not being met by traditional sources of funding or support. We may fill a special medical need or assist a family caring for a terminally ill child. The needs are diverse and with your help- together, we are improving the quality of children’s lives, one child at a time.

To provide a responsive and direct resource to children in need so that they have the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential.

100% VOLUNTEER
Unlike many nonprofit organizations with expenses for salaries, rent and utilities, the Foundation is wholly staffed by dedicated volunteers who enthusiastically donate their time, talents and resources to help children in Connecticut.

YOUTH MENTOR PROGRAM

CTCF also prides itself in its youth mentor program. Our local teens volunteer to solicit donations , volunteer at our events and work on community service projects in support of the families we serve. Truly the philanthropists of tomorrow, these young adults are an inspiration to us all.

Haley and I would like to thank you for approving the grant for replacement windows for our home. We are so excited to get window that work; this will make Haley more comfortable with less seizure activity going forward in her life. For all of the volunteers & supporters, surely there is a special place in heaven for all of you!

Kyle is a loving son who was born with a rare genetic disorder. He suffers seizures on a daily basis and bouts of insomnia 1 to 2 days a week. Thank you to everyone involved with Cherish The Children Foundation for helping us to complete the renovation project when funding fell short.

Bryon`s new van is such a blessing to us, and helped us get him to his appointments at the hospital many times during this harsh winter weather and will sustain us for years to come. Thank you to Cherish the Children Foundation for your help with our van purchase.

Since their diagnosis it has been our mission to keep our 2 daughters healthy and beat Cystic Fibrosis which entails regular doctor visits, near and far. Without the help of Cherish the Children we would not be able to get a reliable vehicle needed for the safety of our children. From the bottom of our hearts we thank Cherish the Children for all the help. I feel we have one less thing to worry about and will continue to focus on the health of our girls.
